The Lakeshores Division was established in 1962 and encompasses eleven counties in western New York and is part of the Northeastern Region of the National Model Railroad Association. We meet several times per year at various venues in our area. We encourage those with an interest in model railroading that reside in the counties of Cayuga, Genesee, Livingston, Monroe, Ontario, Orleans, Seneca, Stuben, Wayne, Wyoming, and Yates as well as NMRA members from other divisions to attend our meets and events.
The Northeastern Region (NER) encompasses the six states of New England, much of New York, northern New Jersey, the Eastern Provinces of Canada and Quebec. The approximately 1500 members of the NER are also member of the National Model Railroad Association, Inc. (NMRA). The NMRA advances the global scale model railroading community through education, advocacy, standards, and social interaction. NMRA activities include conventions, train shows, meets and meetings, clinics and other educational sessions, development of standards and recommended practices, hobby advocacy, and social interaction in many forms and much more.
There are today nearly 20,000 NMRA members across the globe.
